Between YouTube channels, blogs, websites, online stores, and other media, dipping your toes into the minimal waste lifestyle has never been easier. It’s also never been more confusing, with so many options to choose from. To help narrow things down, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite online resources as a good starting point.

Online Stores

  • Buy Me Once: Good quality products for those that don’t mind spending a bit more.
  • By Humankind: Minimal waste personal care products in lifetime refillable containers.
  • Fillgood: Minimal waste living made simple. They ship plastic-free within the United States, and they even have a refill shop in Albany, CA, north of Oakland.
  • Life Without Plastic: A good place to find plastic alternatives that you probably haven’t even thought of (example: lint rollers).
  • Package Free Shop: Virtually everything from their website is plastic-free or low-plastic, comes in recyclable and/or compostable materials, and is packed with recycled paper filler material. They’re also privately woman-owned. (Click here for $10 off your first purchase)
  • Plaine Products: Refillable bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and more. Send back your empties to exchange for full bottles.
  • Tiny Yellow Bungalow: Another good plant-based, minimal waste shop. Slightly different selection than the other stores.
  • MightyNest: Not as heavily plastic-free as some of the other options listed here, but there’s a wide selection of easy, low-effort swaps. Add items from their catalog to your monthly mystery-item subscription box, with no additional shipping charge.
